Ad-lib or script? Though the weekend shows usually last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Hunter on the public address system for most of the time, he doesn’t ever like to go with scripted or pre-written material. It’s all ad-lib, with a pile of notes kept nearby. “Some time your mind locks up, and in that case I can say how fast, how far, how high up, how much can they carry.” He likes to teach, and likes returning to some of the same material year after year. Take for example the Navy A-4 Skyhawks, he likes talking about the tail hook. He remind people, this plane is built to land on an aircraft carrier, “on a strip about as wide as twice your driveway,” and tail hook is what helps it come to a stop. “And I look out and I can always find faces of people hanging on every word.”
