Alabama nearly pulled off an incredible comeback at Missouri on Saturday.
But two potential go-ahead shots at the rim by Herb Jones in the final minute halted the Tide's chances, as Alabama lost 68-65 for its first loss in SEC play this year.
The first one was a layup pushed too strong. The second attempt brought about some controversy.
Jones' shot fake with eight seconds left drew Missouri guard Dru Smith flying into the air. Jones went right back up with the ball, trying to draw contact. The on-floor officials did not call a foul on Smith, and Jones' layup was blocked from behind by Missouri's Mitchell Smith.

Off-court officials felt differently, as did the entire Alabama bench. Tide coach Nate Oats sprinted on the floor in protest of the call. Just about every Alabama player and coach on the sidelines threw their hands up in the air.
At a second and third glance, Mitchell Smith's block attempt appeared legal. Dru Smith's landing was less clear.
Either way, the Tide suffered their first loss in SEC play this season. But the non-foul call is sure to stick in the craw of Alabama fans, especially if the Tide lose just once in conference play in 2021.
