CLEVELAND, Ohio – In the new documentary “Herb Alpert Is…” numerous music legends, moguls and movie stars are asked to describe what Alpert means to them. Questlove, Sting, Carole King, Quincy Jones and others are happy to answer. But we couldn’t wait to ask the man himself.
Alpert obliged in our latest episode of CLE Rocks. But it was only the beginning. Alpert also talked about co-founding A&M Records, helping launch the careers of Janet Jackson and The Police, having his hit “Rise” sampled by The Notorious B.I.G., and what it was like being at the first Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony in 1986.
We promise the answers to some of our questions will surprise, if not shock you. Alpert also couldn’t resist sharing his thoughts on President Donald Trump (He did not hold back).
Do yourself a favor and check out the premiere of “Herb Alpert Is…” streaming on the documentary’s website on Thursday, Oct. 1. It comes with a career-spanning boxset due out the following day.
