Jimmie R. Herb Sr., 83, of Rock Road, Peru, New York died Friday August 21, 2020 at his home under the loving care of his family, and Hospice of the North Country.
He was born in Hegins, Pennsylvania, January 26, 1937, the son of Frank and Caroline (Fetter) Herb. Jimmie grew up in Hegins and graduated from Upper Dauphin High School in 1955.
He served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Plattsburgh, New York and was honorably discharged in 1958.
He married the former Jean C. McCusker, December 13, 1958 at the Peru Community Church in Peru, New York.
Jimmie worked at the FAA Center in Nashua, New Hampshire as an Air Traffic Control Specialist, where he retired as a Supervisor in 1987.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Rivier College in 1976.
Left to cherish the memory of Jimmie are; his wife Jean of 62 years. Family members include; his children; son Jimmie Herb Jr. and his wife Janet, daughters; Carol (Herb) Dougherty and her husband Paul, and Diane Herb. Grandchildren; Casey, Brianna, Jason, Krystin, Crystal, Lauren, and Simone. Great-grandchildren; Noah, Autumn, Jacob, Ellie, Jazlyn, and Everly. His siblings; Nancy (Herb) Thomas, Jeanne (Herb) Lenker, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Robert Herb and his wife Carolyn; and siblings; Elaine (Herb) Koplin, Franklin Herb, Ruby Herb, Richard Herb, and Carolyn Herb.
There will be no calling hours or services.
