WYTHEVILLE, VA. (WVVA) - Lavender season may be over but that doesn't mean you have to stop smelling the flowers. Beagle Ridge Herb Farm and Environmental Education Center has been open for more than 19 years. With the pandemic more people have been traveling from many states just to experience the Southwest Virginia farm.

"We've had people here from New Hampshire, Florida, Wisconsin, Colorado," Owner of Beagle Ridge Herb Farm's, Ellen Reynolds said. "During the pandemic it's been very interesting. We started off with appointments only so that we could keep everybody safe. We have so much space. Unless we have 3 or more people in the shop we don't have to worry."

Beagle Ridge is apart of a huge lavender trail in the region. There's six lavender farms in Southwest Virginia, and 14 in the entire state of Virginia. The 210 acres of land has more than flowers to offer.

"People come out and enjoy lavender ice cream, or they will walk through the trails or they will sit in the shade and read a book. You can watch the butterflies, you can listen to the birds, and take a hike. So social distancing is not a problem out here at all," Reynolds revealed.

During harvest, the farm takes the rest of their lavender and creates a variety of products. Reynolds says this has kept them afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those products includes both essentials and infused oils.

So if you haven't been able to travel due to the pandemic consider adding an educational trip to some type of agritourism.
